Making GPS Practical for Everyone from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar to Alma-aty to Moscow to Oslo to Berlin to Paris, Rome, and London to Reykjavik to Nuuk to Ottawa to Santa Fe to San Jose to Santiago to Antananarivo to Colombo to Thimphu to Singapore, Bangkok, and Vientiane to Taipei, Macau, Hong Kong and more. ProximityCast is currently an acorn on its way to being a mighty oak serving the world and its inhabitants.

ProximityCast is a location technology service providing the means to find the location of a selected category based on the proximity to the user's entered location.

Tip One

Proximity Cast is dedicated to supplying information about GPS that can make its use practical for everyone. No longer will the use of GPS be thought of as something only for hunters, fishermen, hikers, pilots, surveyors and soldiers. It can simplify the lives of all of us. Tip #1 provides just such an example.

I had a need to go to an old gentleman's home that was off the beaten trail. Using Delorme Street Atlas I was able to locate the geographic coordinates for the intersection of a small county road with the major highway that was the initial turn-off for his home. I set these coordinates as a waypoint in my Garmin e-map with an identifying label marked as number one. The waypoint for the next turn was subsequently entered and marked as number two. The intitial turn-off would have been extremely easy to miss. But, I was able to zero right in on it with my portable GPS and marked waypoint. I was able to create ahead of time electronic "Hansel and Gretel" bread droppings to mark my way. The wonderful thing about GPS waypoints is that the birds have no interest in eating them, and they can be established without ever actually being at the needed location. This required the use of a secondary software product that made it easy to find the coordinates I needed. However, there is a great internet web site that can also provide easily the same coordinates without an added investment in software. This site is www.TopoZone.com.
